You can help the Books GALore Program enrich the lives of abused, neglected and needy children served by the Guardians ad Litem, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court with your donation. Books can be delivered to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Justice Center, 9300 Quincy Avenue, 3rd Floor, Cleveland, OH 44106.
How are the books distributed?
Guardians ad Litem (GALs) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) give books to children they represent in Juvenile Court. The children keep the books to start or build their very own library.
GALs and CASAs choose books for each child based on the child’s reading level and interests and give them to the child during home visits. This act of kindness inspires some of the children to pay it forward by donating the books back to the program when they're done reading them.
Some courtrooms use the books to encourage family time by assigning some of the youth to read to their younger siblings. Toddlers often come to the Juvenile Justice Center to wait for parents' or siblings' cases to be heard. GALs, Court Staff, and Sheriff's Deputies have books on hand to give to these children.
Some of the books are used for reading and tutoring groups in the Detention Center.
Please help us provide books to every child served by GALs, CASAs, and the Juvenile Court.
